Laval Autoroute
Laval Autoroute cuts Jesus Island in an East-West Axis. It links every freeway or expressway that connects
Montreal to North Shore.
Otherwise, it would have run in the des Bois Ave. corridor and crossed Des Prairies River on Bigras and Bizard islands.
On these islands, the ROW is actually a public park. In Montreal, A-440 ROW is just west of Château-Pierrefonds
Boulevard. Laval Freeway would have ended at Sainte-Marie interchange.

Charest and Dufferin-Montmorency Autoroutes
Route 440 serves Québec midtown. It is cut in two pieces by St-Roch and Limoilou areas. Both Charest and
Dufferin-Montmorency Autoroutes would have been connected by a tunnel wich was never built (note the ghost ramps
on the picture below). Dufferin-Montmorency autoroute runs so close to the St. Lawrence river (Beauport bluffs) that
building interchange at François-de-Laval was impossible. MTQ raised traffic lights instead.
